On-Prem Deployment

Cloudmon ITIM can be deployed on-premise in a Physical CentOS server or a suitably configured virtual machine.

Cloudmon ITIM on Physical Server

Installing Cloudmon ITIM

  1. Open terminal in your server.

  2. Ensure you have root access and internet connectivity.

  3. Execute the following command to install Cloudmon ITIM All-in-One,

  4. This will install the following components,

    • Cloudmon ITIM Controller, which stores data and provides you the dashboards, reports and more.
    • Cloudmon ITIM Agent, which helps you monitor system metrics of this server.
    • Cloudmon ITIM Probe, which helps you monitor IP endpoints and Network devices.

Using Cloudmon ITIM

  1. Visit Cloudmon ITIM Portal, by navigating to http://192.168.1.1 or https://192.168.1.1 assuming your server's IP address is 192.168.1.1

  2. Create an account.

  3. For IP and Network device monitoring,

    • Navigate to Settings > Monitoring > Probes and add this probe (localhost or 127.0.0.1).
    • For monitoring from different location(s), install probes in respective locations.
  4. Click help icon help in the navigation bar for information on installing agents and probes.

 

Cloudmon ITIM on Virtual Machine

Launching Virtual Machine

Download QCOW2, OVA, VHDX image and launch virtual machine in your private cloud. KVM, VMware and Hyper-V instructions are given below for reference.

QEMU/KVM instructions

  1. Download Cloudmon ITIM QCOW2 image.
  2. Create instance from the downloaded image.
  3. See Launch and manage instances on OpenStack for more details if you are using OpenStack.
  4. See Creating guest using virt-manager for more details if you are using virt-manager and Import disk from existing image.

VMware instructions

  1. Download Cloudmon ITIM OVA image.
  2. Create a VM from the downloaded image.
  3. See Deploy an OVF or OVA Template in the vSphere Web Client for more details.

Hyper-V instructions

  1. Download Cloudmon ITIM VHDX image.
  2. Create a VM from the downloaded image.
  3. See Cloudmon ITIM Installation Guide for Windows for more details.

IP address configuration

  1. DHCP is enabled by default, so it gets host configuration from your DHCP server.
  2. For Manual configuration, login into the cli console using the following credentials.

Username: cloudmon Password: iamitimuser

Installing Cloudmon ITIM

  1. Open Cloudmon ITIM setup page in the browser eg: http://192.168.1.1:8080 assuming your Virtual Machine's IP address is 192.168.1.1

  2. Click Check for updates to fetch the latest available Cloudmon ITIM version.

  3. You can optionally try beta (not recommended for production).

  4. Select the components you want to install.

    • Select Cloudmon ITIM Controller, if you are setting up your controller.
    • Select Cloudmon ITIM Agent, if you want to monitor this Virtual Machine.
    • Select Cloudmon ITIM Probe, if you want to monitor IP Endpoints and Network devices.
  5. Click Install to install the selected Cloudmon ITIM components.

  6. You will be redirected to your Cloudmon ITIM Portal after installation.

Using Cloudmon ITIM

  1. Visit Cloudmon ITIM Portal, by navigating to http://192.168.1.1 or https://192.168.1.1 assuming your Virtual Machine's IP address is 192.168.1.1

  2. Create an account.

  3. If you are interested in monitoring IP or Network devices,

    • Ensure Cloudmon ITIM Probe is installed.
    • Navigate to Settings > Monitoring > Probes and add the probe.
  4. Click help icon help in the navigation bar for information on installing agents and probes.
